We are committed to promoting and protecting the character, community, and environment of our area. Through collaboration and active engagement, we seek to uphold the values and aspirations of our residents.
Our Core Aims
- Influence local policies by engaging with BCP Council consultations and statements.
- Identify and preserve the unique character and heritage of our community through support for the Lilliput Neighbourhood Plan.
- Monitor local infrastructure, including roads and pavements, and raise concerns with the council.
- Respond to planning applications with respect to local views and the Localism Act.
- Object to developments that negatively impact the area.
- Protect and maintain public rights of way and open green spaces.
- Support our local schools, their missions, and the safety of their pupils.
- Collaborate with local police to address concerns and support community safety.
- Value the role of local shops, places of worship, hotels and entertainment venues.
- Build relationships with local voluntary groups and promote community initiatives.
Organisational Goals
- Hold an Annual General Meeting to report on our activities.
- Publicly acknowledge and document the Community’s yearly work and progress.
- Maintain formal records of meetings and decisions.
- Share our work and achievements via our website and other platforms.
- Elect and support our officers, including preparing accounts for annual audits.
- Provide opportunities for residents to raise issues with the committee.
- Involve local councillors and other area representatives in our work.
- Develop constructive relationships with council officers to further community interests.
- Present a positive, forward-thinking image of our community to the public and media.
Key Community Objectives
- Protect the public viewpoint at Evening Hill and ensure continued free access.
- Support the environmental value of Parkstone Golf Course as a green corridor.
- Ensure beach and shoreline access remains free for both residents and visitors.
- Preserve local greenery and promote balanced tree management policies.
- Advocate for responsible regulation of shoreline activities like kite surfing and paddleboarding.
- Celebrate and promote the history and culture of Lilliput Village, Salterns, and surrounding areas.
- Support improvements in public transport and taxi availability.
- Encourage accessible local healthcare services, including medical and dental care.
- Promote effective traffic management and the safety of public spaces like promenades.
- Recognise and support the needs of people with disabilities in all community planning.
