from Anthony Vickery
Salterns Court is the distinctive, locally listed, building in central Lilliput with a parade of shops and flats above. Designed in the popular art deco style of 1936, with steel Crittall windows and curved facades, it is currently the subject of a revised planning application (APP/20/01264/F) that would see the building enhanced and restored to something resembling its original glory.
Martins Bank were the first occupants of the corner site on 13th January 1936; Anthony Vickery writes of a visit by Martins Bank Magazine in 1962, and the subsequent report which describes their impressions of the local area as well as the Branch and its Staff.
