South Poole Chairs and Consultation with BCP as a two-way Process

From Harry Alexander, DLRA Committee Member

You may be aware that I am now the Acting Chair of South Poole Chair Liaison Group (SPCLG) (these are Chairs from most of the local community groups in South Poole for 10,000+ residents).

As such, I have taken on a quest for a much better consultation process with BCP i.e. we require a Consultation Process document.

Therefore, much work has gone into this, with preparing for a recent meeting with Graham Farrant (Chief Executive, BCP Council) and Cllr Drew Mellor (Leader of the Council), together with our Consultation Task Group; which includes Gerald Rigler, Graham Whitehall and myself. The meeting progressed well, with BCP agreeing to action a draft document which will be sent to us in 1 month for our initial review.

The document is to follow good practice of consultation. The documents below, as prepared by the SPCLG (Consultation task group), are to be incorporated into the 1st draft to be produced by BCP directors/ officers. SPCLG will then review this draft document for further additions/amendments.

In collaboration with this, Cllr Judy Butt has recently been appointed the BCP Head of Community Engagement.  A role which we are in full agreement with.

We very much look forward to working with BCP so as to enable a good consultation process so that all parties know what is taking place at any given time.
